Prime Minister’s statement to the Press regarding the Bradford City Fire

Prime Minister's AddressThe office of the then Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher, prepared a statement for her to read out to the press on her return to No. 10 regarding the Bradford City Fire. The statement prepared for her, as well as background information on the disaster, is provided as a PDF at the bottom of this post.

The handwritten note on the statement shows that the Prime Minister decided not to read out what was prepared for her, and instead she essentially spoke to the Press in a more informal manner.

Below is an actual radio recording of her address to the press on this day, it’s interesting to compare what was prepared for her with what she actually said on the day.
